Regulator, BACKLITE Glass: Removal

  1. Open the center glass approximately 8 cm (3 inches).
  2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the rear seat. Refer to REMOVAL  .
  4. Remove the cab back panel. Refer to PANEL, CAB BACK TRIM, REMOVAL .

  5. Using a thin trim tool, carefully loosen the adhesive strip and flexible ribbon wire cover (4).
  6. As the flexible ribbon wire cover is released at the outboard end, use a forked trim stick to disconnect the terminals (1) for the glass.
    NOTE:

    The flexible ribbon wire is part of the sliding glass, once loose be careful not to pull on the flexible ribbon wire if reusing the sliding glass.

  7. Unclip the LEFT regulator cable from the body side.

  8. Using a hook tool, pull the upper window down on the outboard end (1) and slide it out of the window frame (2).
  9. Using a hook tool, remove the LEFT cable block from the lower track and remove cable end from the sliding glass.
    NOTE:

    The cable block is difficult to remove, be careful not to the damage the lower track.

  10. Lift the sliding glass upward and pull the bottom out of the lower track.
  11. Remove the sliding glass out of the window frame and reposition as needed to remove the RIGHT side cable end.
  12. Using a hook tool, remove the RIGHT cable blocks (1 and 2) from the lower track.

  13. Disconnect the electrical connector from the regulator motor.
  14. Remove the two bolts (1) and the regulator.
