Cover-Timing Chain: Installation

- Clean all sealing surfaces.
- Replace timing cover seals. See Fig 1.
1 - 3.2 mm (0.125 in.) BEAD OF RTV AT PARTING LINE 2 - PARTING LINE OF ENGINE BLOCK/BEDPLATE - Apply a 3.2 mm (0.125 in.) bead of Mopar® Engine RTV GEN II at the parting line of the engine block/bedplate (1) as shown. See Fig 2.
- Prime oil pump before installation by filling rotor cavity with engine oil.
- Align oil pump rotor flats with flats on crankshaft as you install the timing cover to the block. Hand start all fasteners. Torque fasteners in the sequence shown to 12 N.m (105 in. lbs.). See Fig 3.
- Install the power steering/water pump and tighten bolts.
- Install air conditioning compressor. Tighten bolts to 28 N.m (250 in. lbs.).
- Install the accessory drive belt idler pulley (Refer to COOLING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/IDLER PULLEY - INSTALLATION) .
- Install the accessory drive belt tensioner (Refer to COOLING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/BELT TENSIONERS - INSTALLATION)

1 - RIGHT MOUNT BOLT ACCESS PLUG 2 - FASCIA 3 - SPLASH SHIELD 4 - CRANKSHAFT BOLT ACCESS PLUG - Install the crankshaft vibration damper (Refer to ENGINE/ENGINE BLOCK/VIBRATION DAMPER - INSTALLATION) .
- Install the accessory drive belt (Refer to COOLING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/DRIVE BELTS - INSTALLATION) .
- Install the accessory drive belt splash shield (3).
- Install the right front wheel.
- Lower vehicle.
- Install the radiator cooling fan (Refer to COOLING/ENGINE/RADIATOR FAN - INSTALLATION) .
- Connect upper radiator hose.
- Install the power steering reservoir bracket bolts.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Fill the cooling system (Refer to COOLING/ENGINE - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .
