Tappets-Hydraulic Roller: Removal

- Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
- Remove the air cleaner. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Remove intake manifold (Refer to ENGINE/MANIFOLDS/INTAKE MANIFOLD - REMOVAL) .
- Remove cylinder head cover. (Refer to ENGINE/CYLINDER HEAD/CYLINDER HEAD COVER(S) - REMOVAL) .
- Remove rocker arm assembly and push rods. (Refer to ENGINE/CYLINDER HEAD/ROCKER ARM / ADJUSTER ASSY - REMOVAL) . Identify push rods to ensure installation in original location.
- Remove the cylinder head. Refer to REMOVAL .
1 - TAPPET RETAINER 2 - HYDRAULIC ROLLER TAPPET - Remove bolt from tappet guide holder.
- Remove tappet guide holder.
- Pull tappet out of bore with a twisting motion. If all tappets are to be removed and reused, identify tappets to ensure installation in original location.
- Check camshaft lobes for abnormal wear.
