Section 17 (5.7L Engine (Service Information)): Crankshaft: Removal

- Remove the vibration damper (1) (Refer to ENGINE/ENGINE BLOCK/VIBRATION DAMPER - REMOVAL) .
- Remove the rear oil seal retainer (Refer to ENGINE/ENGINE BLOCK/CRANKSHAFT REAR OIL SEAL RETAINER - REMOVAL) .
- Remove the oil pan (Refer to ENGINE/LUBRICATION/OIL PAN - REMOVAL) .
- Remove the oil pump pickup.
- Remove the windage tray/oil pan gasket.
- Remove the timing chain cover (Refer to ENGINE/VALVE TIMING/TIMING BELT / CHAIN COVER(S) - REMOVAL ).
- Remove the oil pump (Refer to ENGINE/LUBRICATION/OIL PUMP - REMOVAL) .
1 - Chain Tensioner 2 - Camshaft Sprocket 3 - Crankshaft Sprocket - Remove the timing drive (2) (Refer to ENGINE/VALVE TIMING/TIMING BELT/CHAIN AND SPROCKETS - REMOVAL) .
1 - MAIN BEARING CAPS - Identify rod bearing caps before removal. Remove rod bearing caps with bearings.
- Identify main bearing caps (1) before removal.
1 - MAIN CAP - Remove main bearing caps (1) and bearings one at a time.
- Remove the thrust washers.
- Remove the crankshaft out of the block.
