Assembly-Instrument Panel: Installation

NOTE: Left hand drive shown. Right hand drive similar.

  1. With the help of an assistant, carefully install the instrument panel into the vehicle.
  2. Install the two bolts (4) and one nut (3) that secure the instrument panel support (2) to the driver side of the cowl panel. Tighten the bolts and nut to 27 N.m (20 ft. lbs.).

  3. Install the four bolts (2) that secure the top of the instrument panel to the dash panel. Tighten the bolts to 8 N.m (70 in. lbs.).
  4. Install the Instrument panel top cover (Refer to BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/COVER-INSTRUMENT PANEL TOP - INSTALLATION) .

    3 - ATTACHING SCREW(S)
  5. Reach through the steering column opening and install the two bolts (3) that secure the instrument panel support bracket (2) to the driver side of the dash panel (1). Tighten the bolts to 27 N.m (20 ft. lbs.).
  6. Install the end cap onto the driver side of the instrument panel (Refer to BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/END CAP-INSTRUMENT PANEL - INSTALLATION) .

  7. Connect the passenger side wire connectors:
    • Radio coax (5)
    • Recirculation door actuator (1)
    • Blower motor (2)
    • Passenger side door harness (6)
  8. Install the passenger side cowl trim panel (Refer to BODY/INTERIOR/TRIM PANEL-SIDE COWL - INSTALLATION) .
  9. Install the passenger side instrument panel silencer (Refer to BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/SILENCER-INSTRUMENT PANEL - INSTALLATION) .
  10. Install the glove box bin (Refer to BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/BIN-GLOVE BOX - INSTALLATION) .

  11. Install the passenger side A-pillar trim panel (Refer to BODY/INTERIOR/TRIM-A-PILLAR - INSTALLATION) .
  12. Install the two bolts (3) that secure the center of the instrument panel support (1) to the passenger side of the floor bracket (3) located below the center of the instrument panel (2). Tighten the bolts to 6 N.m (55 in. lbs.).
  13. Reposition the carpet and install the push-pin retainer that secures the carpet to the passenger side of the floor bracket.

  14. Connect the driver side wiring connectors:
    • Data link connector (DLC) (5)
    • Two main instrument panel connectors (3)
    • Driver side body harness (4)
    • Driver side door harness (1)
  15. Install the driver side cowl trim panel (Refer to BODY/INTERIOR/TRIM PANEL-COWL SIDE - INSTALLATION) .
  16. Install the steering column (Refer to STEERING/COLUMN - INSTALLATION) .
  17. Install the driver side A-pillar trim panel (Refer to BODY/INTERIOR/TRIM-A-PILLAR - INSTALLATION) .

  18. Position the wire lead (8) of the instrument panel wire harness to the center of the floor panel and connect the wiring connectors and ground to the airbag controller (5) and gearshift assembly (3), as required.
  19. Install the right floor distribution duct (1) (Refer to HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING/DISTRIBUTION/DUCT-FLOOR DISTRIBUTION - INSTALLATION) .
  20. Install the floor center console INSTALLATION .
  21. Install the instrument panel center bezel (Refer to BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/BEZEL-CENTER - INSTALLATION) .
  22. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
