Test 33A: Orc, Passenger SBT Circuit Short To Ground (Active Code)
NOTE:
Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST
after all repairs unless otherwise directed.
- Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Access and disconnect passenger-side seat belt pretensioner connector. See SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect SRS Load Tool (8443) and appropriate jumper to harness side of pretensioner connector. Connect DRB to DLC. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect negative battery cable. On DRB display, read active DTCs. If DRB displays PASSENGER SBT SHORT TO GROUND, go to next step. If DRB does not display PASSENGER SBT SHORT TO GROUND, replace passenger-side seat belt pretensioner.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable and wait at least 2 minutes. Access and disconnect ORC connector. See OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect SRS load tool ORC adapter to harness side of ORC connector. Measure resistance between ground and Light Blue-Dark Green wire on harness side of passenger-side pretensioner connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Blue-Dark Green wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between ground and Light Blue-Yellow wire on harness side of passenger-side pretensioner connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Blue-Yellow wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms resistance and no other malfunctions are detected, replace ORC.
