Test 32A: Orc, Passenger SBT Circuit Short To Battery (Active Code)
NOTE:
Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST
after all repairs unless otherwise directed.
- Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Access and disconnect passenger-side seat belt pretensioner connector. See SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect SRS Load Tool (8443) and appropriate jumper to harness side of pretensioner connector. Connect DRB to DLC. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect negative battery cable. On DRB display, read active DTCs. If DRB displays PASSENGER SBT SHORT TO BATTERY, go to next step. If DRB does not display PASSENGER SBT SHORT TO BATTERY, replace PASSENGER-side seat belt pretensioner.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable and wait at least 2 minutes. Access and disconnect ORC connector. See OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect SRS load tool ORC adapter to harness side of ORC connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect negative battery cable. Measure voltage between ground and Light Blue-Dark Green wire on harness side of passenger-side pretensioner connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is less than 0.5 volt, go to next step. If voltage is more than 0.5 volt, repair short to battery in Light Blue-Dark Green wire.
- Measure voltage between ground and Light Blue-Yellow wire on harness side of passenger-side pretensioner connector. If voltage is less than 0.5 volt and no other malfunctions are detected, replace ORC. If voltage is more than 0.5 volt, repair short to battery in Light Blue-Yellow wire.
