Test 12A: Orc, Driver SBT Circuit Short To Battery (Active Code)

NOTE: Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST after all repairs unless otherwise directed.

Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Access and disconnect driver-side seat belt pretensioner connector. See SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect SRS Load Tool (8443) and appropriate jumper to harness side of pretensioner connector. Connect DRB to DLC. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect negative battery cable. On DRB display, read active DTCs. If DRB displays DRIVER SBT SHORT TO BATTERY, go to next step. If DRB does not display DRIVER SBT SHORT TO BATTERY, replace driver-side seat belt pretensioner.
Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable and wait at least 2 minutes. Access and disconnect ORC connector. See OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect SRS load tool ORC adapter to harness side of ORC connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect negative battery cable. Measure voltage between ground and Light Green-Dark Green wire on harness side of driver-side pretensioner connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is less than 0.5 volt, go to next step. If voltage is more than 0.5 volt, repair short to battery in driver-side pretensioner Light Green-Dark Green wire.
Measure voltage between ground and Light Green-Yellow wire on harness side of driver-side pretensioner connector. If voltage is less than 0.5 volt and no other malfunctions are detected, replace ORC. If voltage is more than 0.5 volt, repair short to battery in driver-side pretensioner Light Green-Yellow wire.
