Test 11A: Orc, Driver SBT Circuit Short (Active Code)

NOTE: Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST  after all repairs unless otherwise directed.
  1. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Access and disconnect driver-side seat belt pretensioner connector. See SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect SRS Load Tool (8443) and appropriate jumper to harness side of pretensioner connector. Connect DRB to DLC. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect negative battery cable. On DRB display, read active DTCs. If DRB displays DRIVER SBT CIRCUIT SHORT, go to next step. If DRB does not display DRIVER SBT CIRCUIT SHORT, replace driver-side seat belt pretensioner.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable and wait at least 2 minutes. Access and disconnect ORC connector. See OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect SRS load tool ORC adapter to harness side of ORC connector. Measure resistance between connector Light Green-Yellow and Light Green-Dark Green wires. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short in wiring harness between driver-side pretensioner Light Green-Yellow and Light Green-Dark Green wires. If resistance is more than 5 ohms and no other malfunctions are detected, replace ORC.
