Test Procedure

  1. Start engine. Using scan tool, erase BCM DTCs. Turn blower switch to low setting. Place temperature control switch to full heat for 30 seconds, then full cold for 30 seconds, then back to full heat for 30 seconds. Place mode selector switch in each position, pausing for 20 seconds in each detent position. Place mode selector switch in defogger position for 20 seconds, then recirculation position for 20 seconds, then back to defogger position for 20 seconds. Using scan tool, read BCM DTCs. If scan tool displays COMMON OUTPUT SHORTED TO BATTERY, go to next step. If COMMON OUTPUT SHORTED TO BATTERY does not appear in scan tool display, go to step  9.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect in-line C200 harness connector. Disconnect BCM C2 connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and in-line C200 connector (BCM side) terminal No. 1 (Dark Blue/White wire). See Figure. If reading is less than 1 volt, go to next step. If reading is 1 volt or more, repair short to voltage in Dark Blue/White wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repair, go to step  9.
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Measure resistance of between BCM C2 connector terminal No. 15 (Dark Blue/White wire) and BCM C2 connector terminals No. 24 (Gray/Dark Blue wire), No. 25 (Dark Blue/Red wire) and No. 26 (Dark Green/Yellow wire). See Figure. If reading is 100 ohms or more, go to next step. If reading is less than 100 ohms, repair short between the affected door driver circuits. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repair, go to step  9.
  4. Ensure ignition switch to OFF position. Connect BCM C2 connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and in-line C200 connector (BCM side) terminal No. 1 (Dark Blue/White wire). See Figure. If reading is less than one volt, go to next step. If reading is one volt or more, replace and program BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. After repair, go to step  9.
  5. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect all previously disconnected components and connectors. Disconnect recirculation door actuator harness connector. Start engine and allow to idle. Turn blower switch to low setting. Place mode selector switch in defogger position for 20 seconds, then recirculation position for 20 seconds, then back to defogger position for 20 seconds. Using scan tool, read BCM DTCs. If scan tool displays COMMON OUTPUT SHORTED TO BATTERY, go to next step. If COMMON OUTPUT SHORTED TO BATTERY does not appear in scan tool display, replace recirculation door actuator. After repair, go to step  9.
  6. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect all previously disconnected components and connectors. Disconnect recirculation door actuator harness connector. Start engine and allow to idle. Turn blower switch to low setting. Place temperature control switch to full heat for 30 seconds, then full cold for 30 seconds, then back to full heat for 30 seconds. Using scan tool, read BCM DTCs. If scan tool displays COMMON OUTPUT SHORTED TO BATTERY, go to next step. If COMMON OUTPUT SHORTED TO BATTERY does not appear in scan tool display, replace blend door actuator. After repair, go to step  9.
  7. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect blend door actuator. Disconnect mode door actuator harness connector. Start engine and allow to idle. Turn blower switch to low setting. Place mode selector switch in each position, pausing for 20 seconds in each detent position. Using scan tool, read BCM DTCs. If scan tool displays COMMON OUTPUT SHORTED TO BATTERY, go to next step. If COMMON OUTPUT SHORTED TO BATTERY does not appear in scan tool display, replace mode door actuator. After repair, go to step  9.
  8. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Visually inspect related wiring harness, connectors and components. Check for damaged or chafed wiring, damaged or broken connectors and/or components. Check for Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) from manufacturer that may apply. Repair any faulty condition found as necessary. After repair, go to next step. If no faults are found, test is complete.
  9. After repair is complete, perform calibration test. See CALIBRATION TEST - HVAC DOOR MOTORS  under ADJUSTMENTS. Perform verification test. See BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
