Body Verification Test VER-1

NOTE: If PCM is replaced, unique secret key data must be transferred from Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM) to Powertrain Control Module (PCM). SKIM must be in secured access mode to transfer secret key data information.
CAUTION: If vehicle is equipped with factory installed Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS), obtain vehicle's original 4-digit PIN code and all programmed keys from vehicle's owner prior to replacing any control module.
  1. Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Remove all jumper wires and testing equipment. Reconnect all previously disconnected components and wiring. If SKIM or PCM was replaced, go to step  4. If SKIM was not replaced, go to next step.
  2. If Body Control Module (BCM) was replaced, ignition must be turned on for 15 seconds to learn VIN or engine will not start. If vehicle is equipped with factory installed VTSS, use scan tool to enable VTSS. Using scan tool, program all other options as necessary. Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitters.
  3. If HVAC system repairs were performed, disconnect battery for 2 minutes or use scan tool to calibrate HVAC actuator mode doors. After calibration test is complete, go to step  7.
    NOTE: Once secured access mode has been entered, SKIM will only remain in secured access mode for 60 seconds.
  4. Obtain vehicle's unique 4-digit PIN code originally assigned vehicle SKIM. Using scan tool, select THEFT ALARM, SKIM, MISCELLANEOUS. Select SKIM MODULE REPLACED. Follow on-screen instructions. Place SKIM into secured access mode by entering vehicle 4-digit PIN code when requests on scan tool screen prompts. Go to next step.
  5. Follow scan tool screen prompts. Program in country code into SKIM memory. Program vehicle VIN into SKIM. Transfer vehicle secret key data and other information prompted by scan tool into SKIM. With SKIM in secured access mode, program ALL available programmed keys for vehicle.
  6. If PCM was replaced, VIN and secret key data must be transferred from SKIM to PCM. Place SKIM into secured access mode using 4-digit PIN code, and transfer secret key data and any additional information into PCM.
    NOTE: If 3 attempts to enter into secured access mode have failed, vehicle will be locked-out. When locked-out, DTCs for NO RESPONSE or BUS +/- SIGNALS OPEN will be set. To exit lockout mode, cycle ignition switch off, then on. Leave ignition switch in ON position for one hour. Verify correct 4-digit PIN code was obtained and ensure correct 4-digit PIN code is entered when requested.
  7. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Ensure battery is fully charged. Ensure all accessories are turned off. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, review, record and clear DTCs from ALL modules. Cycle ignition switch off, then on. Start engine and allow to run for 2-3 minutes. Operate all related functions for system or component repaired, go to next step.
  8. Turn ignition switch to off position. Wait 5 seconds. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Check for any stored DTC/fault messages in all modules. If any DTC/fault messages are displayed, go to appropriate procedure for each DTC/fault message displayed. If no DTC/fault messages are displayed in all modules, verification test is complete.
