Scan Tool Method

Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Fig 1 . Turn ignition on. Retrieve DTCs following scan tool manufacturer's instructions.
Record and identify DTCs. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION . Once DTCs are identified, perform appropriate diagnostic test as directed. See DIAGNOSTIC TESTS . If scan tool does not communicate with vehicle, see NO COMMUNICATION WITH ALL SYSTEMS or NO COMMUNICATION WITH ENGINE CONTROL MODULE/POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE .
