Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Using scan tool, check A/T control relay data values. See SCAN TOOL DATA  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Note scan tool data values, then go to next step.
  2. Test A/T control relay. See A/T CONTROL RELAY  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace if necessary. See Figure . If A/T control relay tests okay, go to next step.
  3. Check harness connectors and continuity of circuits between relay, chassis ground, battery voltage and PCM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If no problem is found, diagnose by symptom. See SYMPTOM TESTS  . If symptom is not listed, replace PCM. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
