Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Using scan tool, check stoplight switch data values. See SCAN TOOL DATA  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Note scan tool data values, then go to next step.
  2. Test stoplight switch. See STOPLIGHT SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace as necessary. See STOPLIGHT SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If stoplight switch tests okay, check electrical connections and wiring between stoplight switch and PCM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary. If connections and wiring check okay and symptom is still present, replace PCM. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
