Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Using scan tool, check oil temperature sensor data values. See SCAN TOOL DATA  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Note scan tool data values, then go to next step.
  2. Disconnect solenoid valve assembly 10-pin connector located at PNP switch on transaxle. Using a DVOM, measure resistance between solenoid valve assembly connector terminals No. 1 and 2. See Figure . Resistance should be 7.3-8.9 ohms at 68°F (20°C). Resistance should be 1.9-2.2 ohms at 212°F (100°C). If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, test oil temperature sensor. See OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace oil temperature sensor as necessary. See OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If oil temperature sensor tests okay, go to step  4 .
  3. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using a DVOM, measure voltage between ground and solenoid valve assembly connector terminal No. 1. If voltage is 4.8-5.2 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, repair open circuit between solenoid valve assembly and PCM.
  4. Check electrical connections and wiring between oil temperature sensor and PCM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary. If no problems are found, replace PCM. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
