Test 8A: Orc, Calibration Mismatch (Active Code)

NOTE: Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST  after all repairs unless otherwise directed.

Use this procedure to diagnose the following active DTCs:

  1. Connect DRB to DLC. Turn ignition switch to ON position. On DRB, select PASSIVE RESTRAINTS, AIRBAG and SYSTEM TEST. Read system test DTCs. If DRB displays PCM ACTIVE ON THE BUS, go to next step. If DRB does not display PCM ACTIVE ON THE BUS, go to VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS  and diagnose corresponding symptom.
  2. On DRB, select ENGINE MISCELLANEOUS, MISC FUNCTION, and CHECK VIN. If Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) displayed on DRB matches VIN on vehicle ID plate, replace ORC. See OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If VIN displayed on DRB does not match VIN on vehicle ID plate, replace PCM and using DRB, program PCM with correct VIN. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
