Test 7A: Left SIACM, Seat Squib Short To Ground (Active Code)
NOTE:
Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST
after all repairs unless otherwise directed.
- Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Remove left front seat back cover and reposition seat back cushion material to access seat air bag module connector. Disconnect left side air bag module connector. Connect SRS Load Tool (8310) Brown cable and appropriate jumper to harness side of left side air bag connector. Connect DRB to DLC. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect negative battery cable. Read left side air bag DTCs. If DRB displays LEFT SEAT SQUIB SHORTED TO GROUND, go to next step. If DRB does not display LEFT SEAT SQUIB SHORTED TO GROUND, replace left side air bag module. See SIDE AIR BAG MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable and wait at least 2 minutes. Access and disconnect left SIACM connector. See SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE (SIACM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance between ground and SIACM connector terminal No. 4 (Light Green-White wire). See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in left side seat squib Light Green-White wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between ground and SIACM connector terminal No. 3 (Light Green-Orange wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in left side seat squib Light Green-Orange wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, and no other malfunctions are found, replace left side impact air bag control module.
