Test 3A: Orc, Loss Of Ignition Run-Start (Active Code)

NOTE: Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST  after all repairs unless otherwise directed.
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove and inspect fuse No. 22. See Figure . Fuse block is located behind instrument panel left end cap. If fuse is blown, go to next step. If fuse is not blown, go to step  4 .
  2. Measure resistance between ground and ORC side of fuse No. 22. cavity (Light Green-Yellow wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace fuse No. 22.
  3. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. While monitoring resistance of ORC side of fuse No. 22. cavity (Light Green-Yellow wire), access and disconnect ORC connector, left SIACM connector and right SIACM connector one by one. See OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC)  and SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE (SIACM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance changes to more than 5 ohms after disconnecting any control module, replace that control module. If resistance is remains less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green-Yellow wire.
  4. Remove fuse No. 22. Turn ignition switch to ON, position. Measure voltage between ground and ignition switch output side of fuse No. 22 cavity (Dark Blue-White wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If voltage is less than 4 volts, repair open or low voltage condition in Dark Blue-White wire. If voltage is more than 4 volts, install fuse No. 9 and go to next step.
  5. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Access and disconnect ORC connector. See OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect negative battery cable. Measure voltage between ground and ORC connector terminal No. 14 (Light Green-Yellow wire). See Figure . If voltage is less than 4 volts and no other malfunctions are detected, replace ORC. If voltage is more than 4 volts, repair open in Light Green-Yellow wire.
