Test 8A - Relay Output Always Off (DTC 15)
NOTE:
Perform TEST 1A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION

. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Disconnect transmission control relay. Use scan tool in voltmeter mode. Measure voltage at terminal "B" of transmission control relay connector. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open fused B+ circuit. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Use scan tool in ohmmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure resistance at terminal "A" of transmission control relay connector. On all other models, measure resistance at terminal "C" of transmission control relay connector. On all models, if resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open ground circuit.
- On F24S and FJ22 models, connect jumper wire between terminals "B" and "D" on transmission control relay connector. On all other models, connect jumper wire between terminals "B" and "D" on transmission control relay connector. On all models, turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read SWITCHED BATTERY voltage. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to step 5). If voltage is 10 volts or less, turn ignition off. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM). Turn ignition on.
- Use scan tool in voltmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure voltage at terminal No. 56 on TCM connector. On all other models, measure voltage at terminal No. 16 on TCM connector. On all models, if voltage is more than 10 volts, replace TCM. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open transmission control relay output circuit.
- Remove jumper wire. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM). Use scan tool in ohmmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure resistance at terminal No. 55 on TCM connector. On all other models, measure resistance at terminal No. 15 on TCM connector. On all models, if resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair 12-volt supply circuit for short to ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
- Use external ohmmeter. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure resistance between terminal "C" of transmission control relay connector and terminal No. 55 of TCM connector. On all other models, measure resistance between terminal "A" of transmission control relay connector and terminal No. 15 of TCM connector.
- On all models, if resistance is less than 5 ohms repair open 12-volt circuit. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
- Connect transmission control relay. On F24S and FJ22 models, connect jumper wire between battery voltage and terminal No. 55 of TCM connector. On all other models, connect jumper wire between battery voltage and terminal No. 15 of TCM connector.
- Use scan tool in voltmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure voltage at terminal No. 56 of TCM connector. On all other models, measure voltage at terminal No. 16 of TCM connector. On all models, if voltage is more than 3 volts, replace TCM. If voltage is 3 volts or less, replace transmission control relay.
