Test 35A - Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) T41 Sense Circuit
NOTE:
Perform TEST 5A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION

. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Disconnect TRS connector. Turn ignition off. Use scan tool in voltmeter mode. Measure voltage at terminal No. 10 on TRS connector. If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to step 3). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Disconnect starter relay. Using scan tool, monitor shift lever status. Connect and disconnect (3-5 times) jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 10 on TRS connector. If scan tool reading toggles from OPEN to CLOSED, replace TRS. If scan tool reading does not toggle from OPEN to CLOSED, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM) connector. On F24S and FJ22 models, inspect terminal No. 1 on TCM connector. Clean and repair as needed. On all other models, inspect terminal No. 41 on TCM connector. Clean and repair as needed.
- Use external ohmmeter. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure resistance between terminal No. 10 on TRS connector and terminal No. 1 on TCM connector. On all other models, measure resistance between terminal No. 10 on TRS connector and terminal No. 41 on TCM connector. On all models, if resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace TCM. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open T41 sense circuit.
