Test 32A - T1 Sense Circuit
NOTE:
Perform TEST 5A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Turn ignition on. Place shifter in "P" position. Disconnect Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch connector. Use scan tool in voltmeter mode. Measure voltage at terminal No. 1 of connector. If voltage is more than 5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 5 volts or less, repair open ignition switch output circuit.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM) connector. Disconnect back-up light relay. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode on all models, measure resistance at terminal No. 3 of transmission range switch connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair transmission range switch circuit for short to ground.
- Connect jumper wire between ground and PNP switch connector, terminal No. 3. Use scan tool in ohmmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure resistance at terminal No. 43 on TCM connector. On all other models, measure resistance at terminal No. 3 on TCM connector. On all models, if resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open transmission range switch circuit. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Remove jumper wire. Connect PNP switch connector. Use scan tool in voltmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure voltage at terminal No. 43 on TCM connector. On all other models, , measure voltage at terminal No. 3 on TCM connector. On all models, if voltage is 5 volts or less, replace TCM. If voltage is more than 5 volts, replace PNP switch.
