Test 28A - T42 Sense Circuit

NOTE: Perform TEST 5A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Disconnect transmission range switch connector. Use scan tool in voltmeter mode. Measure voltage at terminal No. 2 on connector. If voltage is 9 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 9 volts, replace transmission range switch.
  2. Connect transmission range switch connector. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM) connector. Place shifter in "P" position.
  3. Use scan tool in ohmmeter mode. Measure resistance at terminal No. 2 of transmission range switch connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace TCM. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open transmission range switch circuit.
