Test 26A - T1 Sense Circuit

NOTE: Perform TEST 5A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Disconnect transmission range switch connector. Turn ignition on. Move shifter to "R" position. Using scan tool, read T1 voltage.
  2. Connect and disconnect (4-6 times) jumper wire between transmission range switch connector, terminals No. 1 and 3. If voltage toggles from more than 10 to zero, replace transmission range switch. If voltage does not toggle from more than 10 volts to zero, go to next step.
  3. Use scan tool in ohmmeter mode. Measure resistance at terminal No. 1 of transmission range switch connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open ground circuit.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM) connector. On F24S and FJ22 models, inspect terminals No. 2, 13, 17 and 41 on TCM connector. Clean and repair as needed. On all other models, inspect terminals No. 1, 42, 53 and 57 on TCM connector. Clean and repair as needed.
  5. Use scan tool in voltmeter mode. Measure voltage at terminal No. 1 of transmission range switch connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair transmission range switch circuit for short to battery voltage. If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to next step.
  6. Connect jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 3 of transmission range switch. Use scan tool in ohmmeter mode. Measure resistance at terminal No. 1 of transmission range switch. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace TCM. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open transmission range switch circuit.
