Test NS-7A - Checking Idle Air Control Motor
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS - 2.0L & 2.4L
article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. After each repair, perform TEST VER-1.
- Holding throttle 1/4 way down, attempt to start engine. If engine does not start and stay running, go to TEST NS-8A. If engine starts and stays running, release throttle and turn ignition off. Go to next step.
- Disconnect Idle Air Control (IAC) motor connector. Connect IAC motor connector to a functional IAC motor. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, actuate IAC motor. Observe IAC motor tip. If IAC motor tip moves in and out, replace original IAC motor. If IAC motor tip does not move in and out, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, read DTCs. If IAC motor related DTCs appear, see DTC MESSAGES table in TEST TC-1A and perform appropriate test(s). If no IAC motor related DTCs exist, replace PCM.
