- Use DT-50905-3 Clutch Air Travel Fixture Adapter for 8L45.
Assemble the tools as shown, and clamp the DT-50900 Clutch Travel Support Fixture (2) to the bench.
- Apply 30 pounds of pressure to the DT-50903 Clutch Travel Load Gauge (3) by turning the screw on the DT-50900 Clutch Travel Support Fixture (2) clockwise.
- Ensure the plunger of the GE-8001 Dial Indicator Set (4) is located on the backing plate.
- Zero out the GE-8001 Dial Indicator Set (4).
- Remove the pressure on the DT-50903 Clutch Travel Load Gauge (3) by turning the screw on the DT-50900 Clutch Travel Support Fixture (2) one full turn counterclockwise.
- Apply 345 kPa (50 psi) of compressed air to the indicated hole on the DT-50905 Clutch Air Travel Adapter (5), and simultaneously adjust the screw on the DT-50900 Clutch Travel Support Fixture (2) to apply 30 pounds of pressure to the DT-50903 Clutch Travel Load Gauge (3).
- Observe the dial indicator measurement. Refer to Clutch Backing Plate Retaining Ring Specifications (8L45) to determine the correct 1-3-5-6-7 clutch backing plate retaining ring (6).
CAUTION:
Regulate the air pressure to 345 kPa (50 psi) maximum. High pressure could cause the piston to over travel and damage the piston seals.
