Ride Diagnosis

Condition Action
Verify the customer complaint. Test the vehicle on a shop hoist or road test. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
It may be necessary to compare to a like vehicle to determine if an issue is present.
Discomfort due to road surface transferred through seat.
  1. Inspect driver and passenger seat cushions for excessive wear, repair or replace as necessary. Front Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement
  2. Inspect driver and passenger seat tracks for signs of wear. Front Seat Cushion Frame Replacement (Power) , or Front Seat Cushion Frame Replacement (Manual)
  3. Inspect driver and passenger seat track fasteners for signs of looseness. Seat Hardware, Trim and Upholstery - Fastener Specifications
  4. Inspect driver and passenger seat frames for signs of looseness/wear. Front Seat Cushion Frame Replacement (Power) , or Front Seat Cushion Frame Replacement (Manual)
Unacceptable tire condition.
  1. Check tire pressure, adjust, or repair as necessary. Vehicle Certification, Tire Placard, and Anti-Theft Label
  2. Inspect tires for signs of abnormal or excessive wear.
Worn suspension components.
  1. Jounce vehicle at each corner, listen for noises and repair as necessary. Suspension Strut and Shock Absorber Testing - On Vehicle 
  2. Perform Trim Height Inspection, repair as necessary. Trim Height Inspection 
  3. Inspect fasteners and bushings in both front and rear suspension for signs of wear/looseness/damage, repair or replace subject fastener/component as necessary and tighten to correct specification.
Worn ride control components.
    NOTE:

    Failure of one shock/strut does not indicate condition of others in the system. Shocks/struts are designed and intended to operate independent of each other, and should be diagnosed/addressed individually to minimize unneeded repairs.

  1. Inspect each shocks/strut individually for signs of fluid leakage. Suspension Related Leaks 
  2. Inspect shock/strut individually for signs of external damage or looseness, repair or replace subject damper as necessary and tighten to correct specification.
Verify conducted repair alleviated customer concern. Re-test the vehicle on a shop hoist or road test and inspect for evidence of returning condition.
