Lower Crankcase Extension Replacement

Removal Procedure

NOTE:

Loosen the screws and Support the Air Conditioning Compressor with heavy mechanic wire, or equivalent

NOTE:

DO NOT open the refrigerant lines

1. Air Conditioning Compressor - Position aside - Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LIH)
2. Oil Pump - Remove - Oil Pump Replacement 
3. Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Housing - Remove - Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Housing Replacement

   Lower Crankcase Extension Bolt (1) - Remove [15x]

   NOTE:

   Begin to pry at the location (3) first.

   Loosen the lower crankcase extension from the engine block. Pry at the locations (1 - 4) that are shown in the graphic.

   Lower Crankcase Extension (2) - Remove

7. Oil Pan High Pressure Port Seal (1) - Remove and DISCARD [2x]
8. Lower Crankcase Extension - Disassemble - Lower Crankcase Extension Disassemble 
9. Lower Crankcase Extension - Clean and inspect - Lower Crankcase Extension Cleaning and Inspection 

Installation Procedure

1. Lower Crankcase Extension - Assemble - Lower Crankcase Extension Assemble 
2. Clean all sealing surfaces.

   Ensure proper use of room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) sealant. - Use of Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) and Anaerobic Sealant 

NOTE:
• All sealing surfaces must be free of contamination prior to applying the sealant.
• Installation and final torque specification must be completed within 10 minutes of applying the sealant.
4. Apply a 4 mm (0.16 in) bead of sealant (2) to the lower crankcase extension. Increase the thickness of the sealant bead to 6 mm (0.24 in) at the marked positions (1, 3). Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

   Oil Pan High Pressure Port Seal (1) - Install NEW [2x]

6. Lower Crankcase Extension (2) - Install

   CAUTION:

   Fastener Caution

   Lower Crankcase Extension Bolt (1) - Install [15x]

8. Lower Crankcase Extension Bolt (1) - Tighten in sequence [15x] 8.5 N.m (75 lb in)
9. Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Housing - Install - Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Housing Replacement 
10. Oil Pump - Install - Oil Pump Replacement 
11. Air Conditioning Compressor - Install - Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LIH)
