Removal Procedure

Remove the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement .
Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
Remove the camshaft housing. Refer to Camshaft Housing Replacement .
Remove the crankshaft pulley. Refer to Crankshaft Pulley Replacement .
Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

NOTE:
Check the TDC position of cylinder 1.

Check if the bores (1) are aligned.
Rotate the crankshaft, if the bores (1) are not aligned.

NOTE:
Turn the exhaust camshaft at the hexagon until the EN-51143 fixing tool can be installed.

Install the EN-51143 fixing tool (1).
Raise the vehicle.

Install EN-51140 fixing tool (2).
Install the fixing pin into the engine block bore (1) and tighten the 2 bolts (3).
If the fixing pin does not fit into the engine block bore, the camshaft timing must be adjusted. Refer to Camshaft Timing Chain Adjustment .
