Removal Procedure

- Remove the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement .
- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Remove the throttle body assembly. Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement .
- Remove the camshaft housing. Refer to Camshaft Housing Replacement .
- Remove the crankshaft pulley. Refer to Crankshaft Pulley Replacement .
- Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- NOTE:
To locate the correct camshaft sprocket bolt (2) check the TDC position.
Check if the bores (1) are aligned.
- Raise the vehicle.
Install the 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (1).
- Rotate the crankshaft 360 degrees in direction of arrow. Use a pry bar.
- Lower the vehicle.
Loosen the camshaft sprocket bolt (1) from the intake camshaft sprocket (2), counterhold with a wrench at the camshaft hexagon.
- Raise the vehicle.
Rotate the crankshaft 360 degrees in direction of arrow. Use a pry bar at the 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (1).
- Remove the 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (1).
Install EN-51140 fixing tool (2).
- Install the fixing pin into the engine block bore (1) and tighten the 2 bolts (3).
- Lower the vehicle.
Loosen the 2 camshaft sprocket bolts (2) from the camshaft sprocket (1), counterhold with a wrench at the camshaft hexagon.
Turn the exhaust camshaft at the hexagon until the EN-51143 fixing tool (1) can be installed.
