Installation Procedure
- Check the components of the timing chain system for damage and wear:
- Timing chain guides with plastic attachment
- Timing chain tensioner and timing chain tensioner shoe with plastic attachment
- Timing chain and all timing chain sprockets
- Oil pump sprocket
- Oil pump drive chain tensioner
- CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .
Tighten the 2 camshaft sprocket bolts (2) to 25 N.m (18 lb ft), counterhold with a wrench at the camshaft hexagon.
Remove the EN-51143 fixing tool (1).
- Raise the vehicle.
Remove the 2 bolts (3).
- Remove the EN-51140 fixing tool (2).
Install the 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (1) and rotate the crankshaft 360 degrees in direction of arrow. Use a pry bar at the 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (1).
- Lower the vehicle.
Tighten the camshaft sprocket bolt (1) to 25 N.m (18 lb ft), counterhold with a wrench at the camshaft hexagon.
Rotate the crankshaft 360 degrees in direction of arrow. Use a pry bar at the 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (1).
- Remove the 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (1).
Install EN-51140 fixing tool (2).
- Install the fixing pin into the engine block bore (1) and tighten the 2 bolts (3).
- Lower the vehicle.
Install the EN-51143 fixing tool (1).
- Remove the EN-51143 fixing tool (1).
- Raise the vehicle.
Remove the 2 bolts (3).
- Remove the EN-51140 fixing tool (2).
- Install the crankshaft pulley. Refer to Crankshaft Pulley Replacement .
- Install the camshaft housing. Refer to Camshaft Housing Replacement .
- Install the throttle body assembly. Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement .
- Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Install the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement .
Before installation, check the components of the timing chain system for damage and wear.
