Removal Procedure

WARNING:

Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning .

  1. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection - Disconnect
  2. Dash Upper Extension Panel Opening Cover Replacement - Remove
  3. Engine Control Module and Electronic Brake Control Module Bracket Replacement - Remove
  4. Remove the brake master cylinder from the power brake booster without disconnecting the brake fluid reservoir. Brake Master Cylinder Replacement

    { If equipped } Vacuum Check Valve (2)@Power Brake Booster (1) - Disconnect

  6. { If equipped } Brake Booster Vacuum Sensor@Power Brake Booster (1) - Disconnect - Power Brake Booster Vacuum Sensor Replacement

    Electrical Connector (2)@Electronic Brake Control Module (1) - Disconnect

    NOTE:

    Cap the brake pipe fittings to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

    Brake Pipe Fitting (3)@Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (2) - Remove [4x]

  9. Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove
  10. NOTE:

    Do not deform any brake pipes.

  11. Carefully remove the brake pressure modulator valve with the brake pressure modulator valve bracket (2) and the brake pressure modulator valve pipes (4) as assembly from the vehicle.

    Power Brake Booster Bolt (2)@Power Brake Booster (1) - Remove [2x]

    NOTE:

    Be careful with the brake pedal position sensor- not shown.

    Disconnect the brake booster push rod (1) from the brake pedal (2). Press the 2 tabs (arrow) of the click fit connector (3) together and pull the brake pedal a bit to facilitate the removal.

    Remove and DISCARD the click fit connector (1) from the brake pedal (2).

  15. Remove the power brake booster from the vehicle.

    Remove and DISCARD the O-ring seal. (1) [2x]

  17. Remove and DISCARD the gasket. (2)
