Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking Caution .
  2. Remove the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Detach the brake hose (1) from the strut mounted brake hose retaining bracket (2).

  4. Detach the wheel speed sensor wiring harness grommet (1) from the strut mounted bracket.

  5. Remove the front stabilizer shaft link upper nut (1) and disconnect the front stabilizer shaft link (2) from the strut.

  6. Remove the front suspension strut bolts (1) and nuts (2) attaching the strut to the knuckle

  7. Remove the air inlet grille panel assembly. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement .
  8. Remove the windshield wiper transmission assembly for the left side. Refer to Windshield Wiper Transmission Replacement .
  9. Install the CH-49375  strut rod nut socket (1) to the front suspension strut upper mounting nut.

  10. Using the CH-49375  strut rod nut socket, remove the front suspension strut upper mounting nut (1).

    CAUTION: Completely fix the strut pivot with the special tool not to rotate when removing the strut upper mounting nut. Failure to do this could cause damage to the vehicle or component.
  11. Remove the front suspension strut mount rebound bumper stopper (2).
  12. Remove the front strut assembly from the vehicle.
