Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking Caution .
  2. Remove the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Disconnect the steering linkage outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement .
  4. Disconnect the stabilizer shaft link from the strut. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .
  5. Disconnect the control arm ball joint from the steering knuckle. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement .
  6. Disconnect the wheel drive shaft from the wheel hub. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement .
  7. Remove the front brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement .
  8. Remove the front wheel speed sensor. Refer to Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement .
  9. Remove the front brake rotor splash shield from the steering knuckle. Refer to Front Brake Shield Replacement .
  10. Remove the front suspension strut bolts (1) and nuts (2) attaching the strut to the knuckle.

  11. Remove the steering knuckle assembly (1) from the strut assembly (2).
