Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the Q61 Reductant Injector.
- Ignition ON, test for 2 - 3 V between the reductant injector low control circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If less than 2 V
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X3 harness connector at the K20 Engine Control Module.
- Test for less than 2 Ω between the test points: Terminal 1 @ Q61 Reductant injector Component harness & Terminal 1 X3 @ Control module harness
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω
- Test for infinite resistance between the Q61 Reductant Injector harness terminal 1 and ground.
- If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground in the circuit.
- If infinite resistance, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
- If greater than 3 V
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X3 harness connector at the K20 Engine Control Module, Ignition ON.
- Test for less than 1.0 V between Q61 Reductant Injector harness low control circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If greater than 1.0 V, repair the short to voltage at the circuit.
- If less than 1.0 V, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
- Go to next step: If between 2 - 3 V
- Connect a test lamp between the Q61 Reductant Injector low control circuit harness terminal 1 and the Q61 Reductant Injector high control circuit harness terminal 2
- Ignition ON, verify a test lamp flashes several times while commanding the Reductant Injector on with a scan tool.
- If the test lamp is always off
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X3 harness connector at the K20 Engine Control Module.
- Test for less than 2 Ω between Q61 Reductant Injector harness high control circuit terminal 2 to K20 Engine Control Module X3 harness connector terminal 1.
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω
- Test for infinite resistance between the Q61 Reductant Injector harness reductant injector high control circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground in the circuit.
- If infinite resistance, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
- If the test lamp is always ON
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X3 harness connector at the K20 Engine Control Module.
- Ignition ON, test for less than 1.0 V between the Q61 Reductant Injector harness high control circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If greater than 1.0 V, repair the short to voltage at the circuit.
- If less than 1.0 V, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
- Go to next step: If the test lamp flashes
