Removal Procedure

- Support the radiator and condenser from above using the condenser tabs on each side.
- Disconnect the intermediate steering shaft from the steering gear. Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement .
- Steering Column Dash Inner Seal Replacement - Remove
- Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Remove the front tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
- Front Bumper Fascia Extension Replacement - Remove
- Underbody Brace Replacement - Front - Remove
- Underbody Brace Replacement - Middle X-Rod - Remove
- Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement - Remove
- Exhaust Pipe Front Hanger Bracket Replacement - Remove
Remove the wheel speed sensor wiring harness (2) from the frame on both sides.
- Remove the wiring harness retainers (3) from the frame and the lower control arm.
- Remove the radiator wiring harness (1) from the frame.
- Remove the wiring harness retainers (4) from the frame.
- Separate the steering knuckle from the lower ball joint.[2x] - Lower Control Arm Replacement
- Remove the upper stabilizer shaft link nut.[2x] - Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement
- Disconnect the outer tie rods from the steering knuckles.[2x] - Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement
Front Transmission Mount Through Bolt(1) - Remove
- Rear Transmission Mount Bracket Bolt(2) - Remove
Carefully disconnect the 2 electrical connectors (3) from the steering gear. Use the following procedure to disconnect the 2 electrical connectors:
- Insert a small flat bladed tool into the pocket of the connector retention feature.
- Gently move the retention feature back and pull on the connector to disconnect the connector.
- Remove wiring harness retainer (1).
- Remove the wiring harness bracket bolts from the steering gear.(4)[2x]
Remove the 2 frame rear bolts (1).
- Remove the 4 front compartment front panel bolts (2).
- Remove both front compartment front panels (3).
- Loosen the bumper lower impact bar bracket bolt. Refer to Front Bumper Lower Impact Bar Bracket Replacement
- NOTE:
Support the drivetrain and front suspension frame with a suitable hydraulic jack.
Remove the 4 frame front bolts (1).
- Remove the 2 front bumper lower impact bar brackets (2).
- Remove the frame (3) from the vehicle.
- Remove the following components if replacing the frame:
- Lower Control Arm Lower Control Arm Replacement [2x]
- Stabilizer Shaft Stabilizer Shaft Replacement
- Radiator Lower Bracket Radiator Lower Bracket Replacement
- Steering Gear Steering Gear Replacement
