Removal Procedure

Arrange a place to embed the removed parts.
- Install the MDI, turn on the ignition and read out the trouble codes.
Delete them and read out the trouble codes again. If there are any trouble codes notice them.
- Bring folding top into position 3. Refer to Folding Top Positions Overview .
- Battery Tray Replacement - Remove
- Folding Top Stowage Compartment Replacement - Remove
- Rear End Trim Finish Panel Replacement - Remove
- Quarter Inner Trim Finish Panel Replacement - Right Side - Remove
- Quarter Inner Trim Finish Panel Replacement - Left Side - Remove
- Pass parts in the work area.
- Take pictures for correct orientation.
- Load Floor Module Rear Trim Finish Panel Replacement - Remove.
- Quarter Window Finish Molding Replacement [2x] - Remove
- Rear Body Fuse Block Replacement - Remove
- Pass parts in the work area.
- Take pictures for correct orientation.
- Front Floor Panel Carpet Replacement - Remove
- Pass parts in the work area.
- Take pictures for correct orientation.
- Rear Seat Back Cushion Removal and Installation - Left Side - Remove
- Rear Seat Back Cushion Removal and Installation - Right Side - Remove
- Tail Lamp Replacement 2x - Remove
- Headlining Front Trim Panel Replacement - Remove
- Windshield Side Garnish Molding Replacement - Remove
- Pass parts in the work area.
- Take pictures for correct orientation.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Rear Wheelhouse Liner Replacement 2x - Remove
- Disconnect body wiring harness from electrical park brake.
- Remove body wiring harness from fuel tank filler door lock actuator.
- Windshield Washer Solvent Container Replacement - Remove
- Disconnect body wiring harness from steering gear.
- Pass parts in the work area.
- Take pictures for correct orientation.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Fuse Block Replacement - Remove
- Front Compartment Fuse Block Replacement - Remove
- Pass parts in the work area.
- Take pictures for correct orientation.
- Brake and Accelerator Pedal Assembly Replacement - Remove
- Instrument Panel Upper Outer Trim Panel Replacement 2x - Remove.
- Remove the body wiring harness from roof frame and A-pillars.
Remove the body wiring harness (1) from roof to interior by means off the hole from instrument panel upper outer trim panel on left and right side.
Release the X1 (1) plug connector from the A-pillar. Use the BO-569-A plug lifter.
- Release all fixations.
- Take care about destroyed cable straps and harness guidance regarding noises and rattle.
Remove the body wiring harness guidance in the bulkhead and draw-out the body wiring harness from the engine compartment through the passenger compartment.
- Remove the old body wiring harness and lay it on the floor.
- Unpack the new body wiring harness and compare the old with the new harness concerning quantity of fixing points, cable straps, guides, part numbers and pin assignments.
