Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Disable High Voltage, refer to High Voltage Disabling .
    WARNING:

Always perform the High Voltage Disabling procedure prior to servicing any High Voltage component or connection. Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and proper procedures must be followed.

The High Voltage Disabling procedure will perform the following tasks:

    • Identify how to disable high voltage.
    • Identify how to test for the presence of high voltage.
    • Identify condition under which high voltage is always present and personal protection equipment (PPE) and proper procedures must be followed.

Failure to follow the procedures exactly as written may result in serious injury or death.

NOTE: If the position sensor or wiring harness circuits fail the circuit tests, replace the component; do not repair.
  2. Remove the Drive Motor Power Inverter Module Cover, refer to Drive Motor Power Inverter Module Cover Replacement .
  3. Vehicle OFF, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the T6 Power Inverter Module.
  4. Test for greater than 10, 000 Ω between the terminals listed below and ground:
    • Excitation Reference circuit terminal 9 X2
    • Excitation Reference circuit terminal 10 X2
    • SIN Signal circuit terminal 5 X2
    • SIN Signal circuit terminal 6 X2
    • COS Signal circuit terminal 7 X2
    • COS Signal circuit terminal 8 X2
    • If less than 10, 000 Ω
    1. Remove the transmission, refer to Transmission Replacement .
    2. Disconnect the connector at the B228B Drive Motor 1 Position Sensor, refer to Drive Motor Removal - 1st Position .
    3. Test for less than 10, 000 Ω between the appropriate harness terminal and ground.
      • If less than 10, 000 Ω, replace the transmission wiring harness assembly.
      • If greater than 10, 000 Ω, replace the B228B Drive Motor 1 Position Sensor.
    • If greater than 10, 000 Ω
  5. Test for 4.0 - 25 Ω between the terminals listed below:
    • Excitation Reference circuit terminal 10 and Reference circuit terminal 9
    • COS Signal circuit 1 terminal 7 and Signal circuit 1 terminal 8
    • SIN Signal circuit 2 terminal 5 and Signal circuit 2 terminal 6
    • If not within the specified range
    1. Disconnect the connector at the B228B Drive Motor 1 Position Sensor.
    2. Test for 4.0 - 25 Ω between the connector terminals listed below:
      • Excitation Reference circuit terminal 3 and Excitation Reference circuit terminal 4
      • COS Signal circuit terminal 1 and COS Signal circuit terminal 2
      • SIN Signal circuit terminal 5 and SIN Signal circuit terminal 6
      • If within the specified range, replace the transmission wiring harness assembly.
      • If not within the specified range, replace the B228B Drive Motor 1 Position Sensor.
    • If within the specified range
  6. Replace the T6 Power Inverter Module.
