Installation Procedure

Install a NEW turbocharger gasket (4).

Install the turbocharger (5).
Install and hand tighten the 3 NEW exhaust manifold nuts (1, 2, 3) to align the turbocharger to the catalytic converter.
Install the catalytic converter clamp (2) and tighten the nut (1) to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
Tighten the 3 NEW exhaust manifold nuts (1, 2, 3) in two passes and sequence.

NOTE: The sequence is necessary to avoid damages of the gasket between the turbocharger and the exhaust manifold.
First pass to:
1. Nut (2) to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
2. Nut (1) to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
3. Nut (3) to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
Second pass to:
1. Nut (2) to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).
2. Nut (1) to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).
3. Nut (3) to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).
Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
Install the turbocharger wastegate actuator vacuum control solenoid valve hose (1).

Connect the electrical connector to the wastegate actuator.
Install the turbocharger oil return pipe. Refer to Turbocharger Oil Return Pipe Replacement .
Install the turbocharger oil feed pipe. Refer to Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe Replacement .
Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
