Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Remove the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement .
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  4. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE-47716 Fill) and Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) .
  5. Remove the ECM from the battery tray and lay aside. Refer to Engine Control Module Replacement .
  6. Remove the charge air cooler outlet air hose. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose Replacement .
  7. Remove the vacuum hoses (2) from the vacuum pipe and the wastegate vacuum dose.

  8. Remove the vacuum hose (3) from the EGR control solenoid valve.
  9. Remove the vacuum hoses (5) from the EGR vacuum tank.
  10. Remove the 2 bolts (1) and lay the turbocharger wastegate actuator vacuum control solenoid valves with bracket (9) aside.
  11. Clip out the wiring harness (6) from the vacuum tank.
  12. Disconnect the wirings harness plugs (8).
  13. Remove the EGR control solenoid valve bolts (4).
  14. Remove the EGR vacuum regulator valve solenoid and the bracket (7) from the vacuum tank.
  15. Remove the oil level indicator dip stick.

  16. Remove the upper oil level indicator tube bolt (2).
  17. Remove the oil level indicator tube - upper (1) from the oil level indicator tube - lower (4) and DISCARD the seal ring (3).
  18. Loosen the vacuum tank bolts (3, 4, 5).

  19. Loosen the vacuum tank bolts (1, 2).
  20. Remove the 5 bolts (4) from the EGR vacuum valve body (1).

  21. Remove the EGR valve tank (5) and the EGR heat exchanger (3).
  22. Remove and DISCARD the EGR seals (2, 6).
