Intake Camshaft Removal

Special Tools

EN-46789 Camshaft Fixing Tool

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .

NOTE: Replacement of the exhaust camshaft is allowed for camshaft housing with plain bearings ONLY.

Determine the type of the installed camshaft housing. Refer to Camshaft Housing Replacement .
Remove the hole plug (3).

Install the EN-46789 fixing tool (4).
Turn the camshaft until the EN-46789 fixing tool audibly engages.
Remove and DISCARD the intake camshaft sprocket bolt (2).
Remove the intake camshaft sprocket (1).
Remove the EN-46789 fixing tool.
Install the hole plug (3) and tighten to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
Remove the intake camshaft seal ring (2).

Remove the intake camshaft (1).
