Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the muffler assembly. Refer to Exhaust Muffler Replacement (2H0)Exhaust Muffler Replacement (LUV) .
  3. Remove the catalytic converter front heat shield. Refer to Catalytic Converter Front Heat Shield Replacement .
  4. Fig 1: Center Bearing Bolts

  5. Remove the 2 center bearing bolts (1).

  7. Using a hydraulic jack (2), support the propeller shaft at the center bearing (1).

  9. Remove the 6 rear propeller shaft bolts (1) and the 3 washers from the differential clutch flange.

  11. It may be necessary to use a punch (1) and the hammer (2) to remove the propeller shaft from the differential clutch flange.

  13. Remove the 6 front propeller shaft bolts (1) and the 3 washers from the front differential pinion flange.

  15. Remove the propeller shaft (1) from the vehicle.
