Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Fig 1: Windshield Garnish Molding Assembly

  3. Remove both of the windshield garnish moldings (1). Refer to Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement (Encore) .

  5. Remove the front floor console (3). Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement (Encore) .

  7. Remove the front floor console stowage tray (2). Refer to Front Floor Console Stowage Tray Replacement (Encore) .

  9. Remove the instrument panel outer trim covers left side (1) and right side (2). Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement (Encore) .

  11. Remove the radio (2). Refer to Radio Replacement (Encore) .

  13. Remove the instrument panel lower center trim plate applique (2). Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Center Trim Plate Applique Replacement (Encore) .

  15. Remove the UAG instrument panel upper trim panel bracket (2), if equipped. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Bracket Replacement (UAG) Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Bracket Replacement (UDN)

  17. Remove the UDN instrument panel upper trim panel bracket (2), if equipped. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Bracket Replacement (UAG) Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Bracket Replacement (UDN)

  19. Remove the instrument panel upper compartment (3). Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Compartment Replacement (Encore) .

  21. Remove the instrument panel compartment (2). Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .

  23. Remove the heater and air conditioning remote control (1). Refer to Heater and Air Conditioning Remote Control Replacement .

  25. Remove the instrument panel outer air outlets left side (1) and right side (2). Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Replacement (Encore) .

  28. Remove the instrument cluster (2). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement (Encore) .

  32. Remove the instrument panel bolts (1).

  34. Remove the instrument panel inflatable restraint module bracket bolts (1).
  35. Remove the instrument panel compartment door latch striker bolt (2).

  37. Note the location and routing of the instrument panel electrical harness assembly, to ensure proper reinstallation.
  38. Disconnect the fasteners securing the instrument panel electrical harness assembly to the instrument panel and position out of the way.
  39. With the aid of an assistant lift the instrument panel (1) rearward and upward from the tie bar assembly.
  40. Remove the instrument panel from the vehicle.
  41. Transfer all necessary components.
