Removal Procedure

- Intermediate Steering Shaft@Steering Gear - Separate - Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement (NJ1)
- Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod@Steering Knuckle - Separate - Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement
- Front Stabilizer Shaft Link@Front Stabilizer Shaft - Separate - Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement
- Front Lower Control Arm@Steering Knuckle - Separate - Lower Control Arm Replacement
- Exhaust Isolator@Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame - Separate - Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LUV)Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (2H0)
- Rear Transmission Mount Through Bolt - Remove - Transmission Mount Bracket Replacement - Rear (AWD)Transmission Mount Bracket Replacement - Rear (FWD)
- Position adjustable stands underneath the left and right sides of the rear of the drivetrain and front suspension frame.
- Loosen, but do NOT remove, the drivetrain and front suspension frame front bolts. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Replacement (Long Cradle)Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Replacement (Short Cradle)Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Replacement (Long Cradle - V5O)
- Remove the drivetrain and front suspension frame upper and rear bolts. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Replacement (Long Cradle)Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Replacement (Short Cradle)Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Replacement (Long Cradle - V5O)
- Partially lower the rear of the drivetrain and front suspension frame to gain clearance for the steering gear.
- Finish removing the front stabilizer shaft. Stabilizer Shaft Replacement
- Remove the steering gear nuts (1), washers (2), and steering gear bolts (3).
DISCARD the bolts.
- Remove the steering gear (4) from the drivetrain and front suspension frame.
- Transfer components as necessary.
