Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE-47716 Fill)  and Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) .
  2. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
  3. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation pipe from the turbocharger. Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement .
  4. Remove the radiator outlet hose from the engine coolant thermostat housing. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (1.4L LUV) .
  5. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor wiring harness connector.
  6. Remove the engine oil cooler outlet hose clamp (2).

  7. Remove the engine oil cooler outlet hose (3) from the engine coolant thermostat housing.
  8. Remove the 3 engine coolant thermostat housing bolts (4).
  9. Remove the engine coolant thermostat housing (5) and the seal ring (1).
