Removal Procedure

- Remove the front end sheet metal cross brace. Refer to Front End Sheet Metal Cross Brace Replacement .
- Remove the intake manifold covers. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (Left Side) Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (Right Side) .
- Remove the air cleaner resonator and outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Resonator and Outlet Duct Replacement (LS7) .
- Disconnect the electrical connector for the fuel injectors.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the throttle body.
- Disconnect the fuel feed for the fuel injectors. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Feed Hose Replacement (Except LS7)Fuel Injection Fuel Feed Hose Replacement (LS7) .
- Disconnect positive crankcase ventilation hoses/pipes/tubes from the oil tank. Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (Clean Air - LS7) Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (Dirty Air - LS7) .
- Remove the vacuum hose (1) from the brake booster. Refer to Power Brake Booster Vacuum Check Valve and Hose Replacement (L99, LS3, LS7) .
- Remove the MAP sensor. Refer to Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Replacement (LS7) .
- Remove the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge tube. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube Replacement (LS7) .
- Remove the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement (LS7) .
- Disconnect the exhaust tail pipe flow control vacuum check valve and hose from the intake manifold. Refer to Exhaust Tail Pipe Flow Control Vacuum Check Valve and Hose Replacement (LS7) .
- Loosen the intake manifold bolts (1) and the fuel rail stop bracket (2).
- Remove the intake manifold (3).
- Remove the intake manifold gaskets (1).
- Discard the intake manifold gaskets.
- If necessary clean and inspect intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Cleaning and Inspection (LS7) .
NOTE:
The intake manifold, throttle body, fuel injection rail and injectors may be removed as an assembly. If not servicing the individual components, remove the intake manifold as a complete assembly.
