Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Remove the front end sheet metal cross brace. Refer to Front End Sheet Metal Cross Brace Replacement .
  2. NOTE:

    The intake manifold, throttle body, fuel injection rail and injectors may be removed as an assembly. If not servicing the individual components, remove the intake manifold as a complete assembly.

  3. Remove the intake manifold covers. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (Left Side) Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (Right Side) .
  4. Remove the air cleaner resonator and outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Resonator and Outlet Duct Replacement (LS7) .
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector for the fuel injectors.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the throttle body.
  7. Disconnect the fuel feed for the fuel injectors. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Feed Hose Replacement (Except LS7)Fuel Injection Fuel Feed Hose Replacement (LS7) .
  8. Disconnect positive crankcase ventilation hoses/pipes/tubes from the oil tank. Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (Clean Air - LS7) Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (Dirty Air - LS7) .

  10. Remove the vacuum hose (1) from the brake booster. Refer to Power Brake Booster Vacuum Check Valve and Hose Replacement (L99, LS3, LS7) .

  12. Remove the MAP sensor. Refer to Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Replacement (LS7) .

  14. Remove the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge tube. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube Replacement (LS7) .

  16. Remove the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement (LS7) .
  17. Disconnect the exhaust tail pipe flow control vacuum check valve and hose from the intake manifold. Refer to Exhaust Tail Pipe Flow Control Vacuum Check Valve and Hose Replacement (LS7) .

  19. Loosen the intake manifold bolts (1) and the fuel rail stop bracket (2).
  20. Remove the intake manifold (3).

  22. Remove the intake manifold gaskets (1).
  23. Discard the intake manifold gaskets.
  24. If necessary clean and inspect intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Cleaning and Inspection (LS7) .
