Installation Procedure

    NOTE:

    DO NOT reuse the intake manifold gaskets. Install NEW intake manifold gaskets.

    NOTE:
    • The intake manifold, throttle body, fuel injection rail and injectors may be removed as an assembly. If not servicing the individual components, install the intake manifold as a complete assembly.
    • DO NOT use the intake manifold gaskets again. Install NEW intake manifold-to-cylinder head gaskets.
  1. Install NEW intake manifold-to-cylinder head gaskets (1).

  2. Install the intake manifold (3).
  3. Apply a 5 mm (0.20 in) band of threadlocker to the threads of the intake manifold bolts (1). Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
  4. Install the fuel rail stop bracket (2).
  5. Install the intake manifold bolts (1).

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  6. Tighten the intake manifold bolts to the sequence shown:
    • First Pass: Tighten the intake manifold bolts in sequence to 5 N.m (44 lb in).
    • Second Pass: Tighten the intake manifold bolts in sequence to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
  7. Connect the exhaust tail pipe flow control vacuum check valve and hose from the intake manifold. Refer to Exhaust Tail Pipe Flow Control Vacuum Check Valve and Hose Replacement (LS7) .

  8. Install the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement (LS7) .

  9. Install the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge tube. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube Replacement (LS7) .

  10. Install the MAP sensor. Refer to Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Replacement (LS7) .

  11. Connect the vacuum hose (1) to the brake booster. Refer to Power Brake Booster Vacuum Check Valve and Hose Replacement (L99, LS3, LS7) .
  12. Install the fuel rail. Refer to Fuel Rail and Injectors Installation (LS7) .
  13. Connect the electrical connector for the MAP sensor.

  14. Install the vacuum hose for the brake booster.
  15. Connect positive crankcase ventilation hoses/pipes/tubes to the oil tank. Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (Clean Air - LS7) Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (Dirty Air - LS7) .
  16. Connect the fuel feed for the fuel injectors. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Feed Hose Replacement (LS7) .
  17. Connect the electrical connectors to the throttle body.
  18. Connect the electrical connectors for the fuel injectors.
  19. Install the air cleaner resonator and outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Resonator and Outlet Duct Replacement (LS7) .
  20. Install the intake manifold covers. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (Left Side) Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (Right Side) .
  21. Install the front end sheet metal cross brace. Refer to Front End Sheet Metal Cross Brace Replacement .
  22. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSA, LS3, LS7, L99 Static Fill)Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) .
