Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement .
  2. Remove the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement .
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  4. Remove the windshield washer solvent reservoir. Refer to Windshield Washer Solvent Container Replacement (Pontiac) or Windshield Washer Solvent Container Replacement (Chevrolet) .
  5. Install the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture .
  6. Remove the engine mount to bracket bolts.

  8. Remove the engine mount to side rail nuts.
  9. Remove the engine mount from the engine compartment.

  11. Remove the engine mount bracket to engine bolts.
  12. Remove the engine mount bracket.

  14. Remove the engine front cover to water pump bolt.

  16. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  17. Remove the engine front cover bolts.
  18. Remove the engine front cover.

  20. Remove and discard the engine front cover gasket.
