Turbine Shaft Inspection & Bushing Replacement

- Inspect bushing inside end of turbine shaft for damage. Measure inside diameter of turbine shaft bushing (dimension "A"). See Fig 1. Compare measurement to specifications. See ROTATING CLUTCH MODULE SPECIFICATIONS table under TRANSMISSION SPECIFICATIONS. If measurement exceeds maximum specification, replace bushings.
- If bushing is to be replaced, start by assembling shaft and collet of Output/Turbine Shaft Bushing Remover (J-44526) or equivalent. See Fig 2. Install this assembly into bushing. Install washer and nut of bushing remover tool assembly onto threaded shaft of tool.
- While holding the top end of the threaded shaft with a wrench, tighten the nut until the tool properly engages the turbine shaft bushing. Install the sleeve onto the threaded shaft. See Fig 2. Install the bearing, washer and upper nut onto the threaded shaft.
- While holding top end of threaded shaft with a wrench, tighten upper nut until bushing is dislodged from turbine shaft. Remove remover tool set from turbine shaft.
- Install a NEW bushing onto Output/Turbine Shaft Bushing Installer (J-43791) or equivalent. Drive bushing into turbine shaft until seated. Ensure bushing is installed flush to .010" (.25 mm) below inner turbine shaft surface.
