C1 & C2 Clutch Friction Plate Inspection

  1. Measure thickness of each clutch friction plate (dimension "A") in at least 3 locations. See Fig 1. Compare measurement to specifications. See ROTATING CLUTCH MODULE SPECIFICATIONS  table under TRANSMISSION SPECIFICATIONS. If friction plate is less than minimum thickness at any point, replace friction plate.
  2. Measure the oil groove depth of each friction plate (dimension "B") in at least 3 locations. See Fig 1. Compare measurement to specifications. See ROTATING CLUTCH MODULE SPECIFICATIONS  table under TRANSMISSION SPECIFICATIONS. If oil groove depth is less than minimum specification at any point, replace friction plate.
  3. Place the friction plate on a level surface and measure the cone of each plate (dimension "C") in at least 3 locations. See Fig 2. Compare measurement to specifications. See ROTATING CLUTCH MODULE SPECIFICATIONS  table under TRANSMISSION SPECIFICATIONS. If cone is more than specified at any location, replace friction plate.
