P2 Planetary Carrier Assembly Inspection

  1. Check end play between P2 planetary carrier and a thrust washer at each pinion gear, using a feeler gauge. See Figure. Compare measurements to specifications. See PLANETARY GEAR MODULE SPECIFICATIONS  table under TRANSMISSION SPECIFICATIONS. If the end play exceeds specification, replace P2 planetary carrier assembly.
  2. Inspect the bushing for wear or damage. Measure the inside diameter of the bushing (dimension "A"). See Fig 1. Compare measurements to specifications. See PLANETARY GEAR MODULE SPECIFICATIONS  table under TRANSMISSION SPECIFICATIONS. If the bushing inside diameter exceeds specification, replace bushing.
